When we asked Tension why they do what they do, they replied, “We like to make stuff. It’s fun.” And we love that about them!
As with most brands whose products we distribute, we work with them because they manufacture many of their products in-house. It gives them a lot more flexibility and control when it comes to refining product design, R&D, and quality control. It also gives them a unique opportunity to provide jobs in the industry, seek out up-and-coming talent, and collaborate in ways that just aren’t possible when outsourcing.
When you train on one of Tension’s hangboards, or campus boards, or climb using their wooden holds, you’re interacting with something that was designed and made with care by climbers, for climbers!

Tension
Founded in 2015 in the back corner of an auto shop in Denver, CO, Tension Climbing was built not only on the idea that good design can improve the climbing experience, but also that the way we do business can drive improvement in our community and industry.
With some basic woodworking tools and borrowed time on CNC machines, they set out to turn a fresh eye to established training solutions. After launching their first round of products, they gained enormous support from the community. This allowed them to quickly grow beyond that first small corner and into their own warehouse space next door!
Combining their collective expertise in climbing, coaching, and manufacturing, their small team has developed multiple training solutions that have become the industry standard.
As obsessive climbers, they are no strangers to creative problem-solving and hard work. Their values are reflected in their product designs, manufacturing processes, and the way they do business.
